Reference Materials

This page provides information about key reference materials that address a range of humanitarian and forced migration-related topics. The titles are organized first by reference type, as follows - atlases, dictionaries and glossaries, encyclopedias, and handbooks (both academic and operational) - and then alphabetically by title. Resources that can be accessed in full-text are noted accordingly.

This is not a comprehensive listing. Rather, the titles highlighted below were either referenced in my new book announcements on this blog and/or were represented in my now discontinued Forced Migration Research Guide. All have been published within the last 10 years.

Many more relevant reference texts can be found in 1) Refworld's collection of manuals and guidelines; and 2) ReliefWeb's extensive database of humanitarian materials.
